On 6 June 2024, we organised a hybrid conference on Recent trends in human trafficking since 2020, with a special focus on the characteristics of labour exploitation, attended by 170 police officers, prosecutors and labour inspectors in person and online.
The conference was organised within the framework of the international project Identifying compaNies and Victims in the Exploitation phase to disRupt the financial business model of adult and child labour Trafficking (INVERT), which was awarded under the European Union Internal Security Fund programme.
The aim of our conference was to familiarise those present with the international and domestic characteristics of labour exploitation, our research findings, the difficulties faced by police and prosecutors in dealing with such cases, the challenges and possible solutions, as well as the tasks and responsibilities of the Employment Service and the activities of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
